MMÖNK Headquarter

public building
Lendava, Slovenia
2022

In the historical part of Lendva, on the main street, is found the headquarter of the Hungarian National Community of the Moravian Municipality, for which our office was commissioned to create the interior and architectural design.

The complex comprises a main building on the street front and a granary at the rear. Between the two wars, the main building has been enriched with neo-baroque architectural elements (attic ornament above the main entrance, and a balcony).

The conversion aims to create office space and a community space for young people while preserving the industrial character of the building. We also wanted to achieve this with as small an intervention as possible, while ensuring that the facility operates economically in the future.

The building layout separates the high-traffic public and the non-public spaces. In the more demanding historical part offices and representative functions were accommodated. The courtyard wing houses the editorial offices of the local print and online press. The ground floor of the former granary was converted into a café with a terrace, which connects to the courtyard with intensive greenery.
